Jannik Sinner
The 21-year-old has been on a roll in 2022 and finds himself two wins away from bagging his second title this season. He has stormed into the semi-finals following a couple of dominating performances.
Sinner began his 2022 Sofia Open campaign against Portugal’s Nuno Borges. The Italian tennis pro made light work of the 25-year-old and won the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. In the quarter-finals, the top seed got the better of Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 to book his ticket to the semi-finals.
Holger Rune
The Danish youngster will have to bring his A-game to the fore to get one over an unbridled Jannik Sinner. He has reached the semifinal of a tour-level competition on a couple of occasions this season, having a 1-1 record.
Rune began his campaign at the Sofia Open with a closely contest two-set affair against Tim van Rijthoven, in which the fifth seed won 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (8-6). Rune picked up a hard-fought win against Lorenzo Sonego in the round of 16. After dropping the first set, Rune dug deep to come back with vengeance and eventually won the match 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 6-3. In the quarter-finals, Rune once again came back from a set down to defeat Ilya Ivashka 2-6, 7-5, 6-4.
