“Sold it more than Braun”, “Over sell by the ref” – WWE fans hilariously react to Charles Robinson falling over backwards at Payback

Charles Robinson is one of the best referees in WWE but he had his special moment at Payback too

WWE Payback had a huge triple threat main event with the Universal title on the line.

The Fiend defended this title against Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns. While it was Reigns that got the win, and a lot of attention, the same could also be said about referee Charles Robinson.

The veteran referee has called a lot of matches over the years and he did a great job this time around too.

However, there was one moment which led to a lot of concern for many. As Strowman and The Fiend clashed, the ring buckled and collapsed.

Robinson lost his footing and tried to support himself with the ropes. However, the ropes had also come loose and Robinson was flung backwards out of the ring.

Fans love Robinson selling

Now Robinson seemed to actually be the one falling over rather than it happening due to the ring collapsing.

The referee tried to sell the major impact of the suplex, and well, he seemed to be a little overzealous in all this.

WWE has used the ring breaking cliché a couple of times now, and it always gets people talking.

However, many didn’t actually enjoy the ring collapse this time around. Using it on the Big Show makes sense given how big he is, but Strowman and the Fiend taking the bump didn’t get that much traction.

What did work was Robinson’s hilarious attempts to sell the ring collapse. Reigns winning the title was a big story in itself.

However, many fans loved the WWE referee’s selling skills and here are some of the best reactions from Twitter.
