Predicted Manchester United XI to face Newcastle in the Premier League
Manchester United claimed all three points with a 4-1 thrashing of Bournemouth at home in the Premier League on Sunday, recording their third straight win in a row under their new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils will once again be the favourites when they make the trip to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Newcastle looked set for three points against Watford last week but a late equaliser meant that they had to settle for a draw. Rafael Benitez’s will be hoping to get something out of the mid-week clash, although they face a daunting challenge against a resurgent Manchester United.
Team News
Eric Bailly is suspended for having picked up a red card in the last game while Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo are also ruled out with injuries. Marcus Rashford suffered a minor groin injury and is doubtful to play a part in the mid-week clash while Scott McTominay and Alexis Sanchez are also unlikely to feature.
Manager: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted XI
1. David de Gea (GK)
He didn’t have too much to do in the last game but has been a very reliable performer between the sticks.
2. Ashley Young (RB)
The veteran has really raised his game since the departure of Mourinho and Man United will need him to continue his good work.
3. Phil Jones (CB)
He came on as a substitute in the last game but should be amongst the starters to cover for the absence of Bailly and Smalling.
4. Victor Lindelof (CB)
The Swedish international has played with a lot of confidence in the last three games and Solskjaer should continue to back him.
5. Luke Shaw (LB)
The Englishman was influential in both halves of the pitch against Bournemouth and should start the next game as well.
6. Nemanja Matic (CDM)
There has been a marked change in the body language of the Serb since the arrival of Solskjaer and he has been playing with a lot more confidence in recent weeks.
7. Ander Herrera (CDM)
The Spaniard set up Pogba with a lovely cross last week and deserves another start against Newcastle.
8. Paul Pogba (CAM)
The Frenchman has rediscovered his form and has scored four goals in the last couple of games.
9. Jesse Lingard (RW)
He troubled the opposition with his movement off the ball and sharp skills last week and should get a start ahead of Juan Mata for this one.

The Belgian scored a goal after coming off the bench against Bournemouth and might get a start if Rashford misses out due to an injury.
