Sony Michel, a running back for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League, was born on February 17, 1995. The New England Patriots selected him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft while he was a student at Georgia.
He won a Super Bowl and scored the game’s lone touchdown in Super Bowl LIII during his three seasons with the Patriots. Michel won the Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams after being traded to them in 2021. The following offseason, he signed with the Miami Dolphins but was cut before the start of the season. Later on, he committed to the Los Angeles Chargers for one season before retiring in July 2023.

Michel’s parents left Haiti a year after the birth of his older sister Lamise. Michel went to Plantation’s American Heritage School. Michel began his eighth-grade year as the starting running back for the American Heritage Patriots.
Michel also competed in track and field at American Heritage, winning the 100-meter dash (10.99 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (21.91 seconds) as a sophomore in 2011. At the 3rd Annual Miramar Invitational, he won the 100-meter dash in a personal-best time of 10.64s.
Michel appeared in one game for Georgia as a true freshman in 2014. He was out for five games because of a fractured shoulder blade. On 64 carries, he gained 410 yards and five touchdowns. Also, Michel started the season as Nick Chubb’s backup, but he quickly rose to prominence.

The New England Patriots chose Michel 31st overall in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the third running back selected that year. He was also the third of six Georgia Bulldogs chosen that year.
With 7 receptions for 50 yards and 931 rushing yards, Michel finished his rookie season with six touchdowns. The Patriots won the AFC East with an 11-5 record, securing them the No. 2 seed in the AFC Playoffs along with a first-round bye.
