Iga Swiatek is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best female tennis player going around currently. Her achievements at the age of just 21 speak volumes of the kind of talent she possesses.

The Polish star has had a spectacular season so far. She has won seven titles that include the French Open as well as the US Open. Swiatek deservingly tops the WTA rankings and she consolidated her position after winning at Flushing Meadows last week.

She idolizes the Spanish legend Rafael Nadal and has mentioned the same on a number of occasions. Swiatek is certainly following in the footsteps of the 22-time Grand Slam champion on the road to greatness. Interestingly, both superstars won the 2020 French Open without dropping a set.

Iga Swiatek got the chance to meet her inspiration for the first time during a video interview in 2020. The youngster didn’t want to miss the chance of capturing the moment of being on the same screen as Nadal as she clicked a photo. Later, she posted the picture on her official Twitter account and wrote:

“OMGGG I’ve just met @RafaelNadal online! (sorry for the unfortunate photo haha) #dreamcometrue”

Throwback to when Rafael Nadal said he is inspired by Iga Swiatek

Iga Swiatek and Rafael Nadal teamed up in August to play in the US Open’s exhibition event for humanitarian relief efforts for war-torn Ukraine.

In a brief interview with Tomek Maczerniuk, the southpaw praised Swiatek for her humility and for being an inspiration for many including him.

“It was great. Iga (Swiatek), I think, is a huge inspiration for everyone, even for me [with] the way that she is very natural, very humble. It has been a pleasure to have her next to me on the court. We had some fun and [it was] for a very good cause, so happy to enjoy that moment,” Nadal said, in a video posted by Polish journalist Tomek Moczerni.
