Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwyane Haskins died on Saturday morning after being hit by a car in South Florida.
Tragedy struck the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise on Saturday after it was confirmed that Dwayne Haskins shockingly died after being struck by a car. The star quarterback was only 24 years old and his death was confirmed by his NFL agent, Cedric Saunders.
According to reports, Dwayne Haskins was training with his Steelers teammates for the upcoming season in Southern Florida. The former Ohio State star was hit by a car and passed away on Saturday morning.
A highly-rated college talent at Ohio State, Haskins was picked by the Washington Commanders in 2019. Haskins finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2018. However, he struggled during his time with the NFC East division side, going 3-10 during his time with the Commanders.
Haskins had joined the Steelers in 2021 but failed to get on the field for them during his one year with the team. The Pittsburgh franchise had offered Haskins the opportunity to get regular football next season. Sadly, NFL fans will not be able to see Haskins in the league again.
NFL fans on social media were quick to pour in their tributes for Haskins. On Twitter, one wrote, “Haskins was such a talented QB. Such a shame. RIP” while a second added, “Tragic news this morning after hearing that Haskins died. Thoughts with his family and close friends.” A third commented, “Man, Haskins was a real prospect and I was looking forward to seeing him play in the NFL next year. RIP. Gone too soon.”
