Stefanos Tsitsipas joked that he gets tired of his family, sometimes, during the ongoing Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship.
Tsitsipas also mentioned that despite all of that he still loved them as they were his family. Aged 21, Tsitsipas, is the youngest player inside the ATP top-10 rankings.
Tsitsipas was in conversation with the media when one of the journalists asked him how important family was:
“Having them around I don’t know, I really don’t know what to answer to that. Sometimes honestly, I’m tired of them, to have them around all the time but at the same time there are my family and I love them. It’s not easy you know traveling with your family.
“Sometimes I feel like my mom and my dad are way too involved in my life outside and inside the tennis court. Maybe not so much outside the court but inside the courts and I’m trying to sometimes not pay too much attention you know to what they say, it’s quite difficult honestly.”
The journalists in the room burst into laughter listening to Tsitsipas’s honest yet hilarious reply.
Tsitsipas, who claimed that he got tired of his parents following soon added that they always wanted the best for him.
The Greek did not shy away from showing his love for his parents by thanking them for everything that he had achieved in his tennis career.
“But I love them, I love them, I love them because I don’t know how, I don’t, I honestly don’t know if I would achieve these things that I have achieved today if it wasn’t for them you know. They want the best for me.”
Tsitsipas’ good run of form in Dubai continued as he advanced into the quarterfinals by overcoming Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta.
