Stephen Curry picked up a shoulder injury in the loss to the Pacers and the team provided an update
The Golden State Warriors face an anxious wait after Stephen Curry picked up an injury in the loss to the Indian Pacers.
Curry already came into the game carrying a sore right knee, but the shoulder injury could be a big blow to the Warriors’ playoff hopes.
Curry, the career leader in NBA 3-pointers, picked up the injury with around two minutes left in the third quarter.
The Warriors star tried to stop a Pacers player and his arm bent at a weird angle. Curry was in visible pain and grabbed his shoulder, and then walked back to the locker room when the next time out was called.
How long will Stephen Curry be out with his shoulder injury?
The two-time MVP is set to undergo an MRI on Thursday to understand how serious the problem is.
Steve Kerr did speak after the match but couldn’t confirm how long his player would be out for (h/t NBA):
“The trainers told me midway through the fourth quarter that he wasn’t going to return,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “I trust their judgment. I only spoke to him briefly after the game, so I haven’t had a chance to talk with him yet.”
Curry did score 38 points but the rest of the team could not get the better of the Pacers. The Warriors have struggled to hit the .500 mark this season at times and now have a 14-15 record.
Should Curry be out for a substantial time, this would greatly affect any hopes the Warriors have of making it to the playoffs.
This would come as a bit of a shock for the defending champions. They are currently 10th and are fighting with the Mavericks and the Timberwolves to get into the play-in.
The Warriors already have injury problems with Klay Thompson having missed this game with a right knee issue. Andrew Wiggins was also not playing due to an abdominal injury.
Curry has been one of the top players in the NBA this season, despite a below-par season for the Warriors. Hopefully, he will not be out for too long.
