The world No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on the Finnish No. 1 Emil Ruusuvuori in the semi-finals of the Stockholm Open on Saturday.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
The top seed has managed to reach his second consecutive semifinal. He came into the Stockholm Open on the back of a run to the finals in Astana. After receiving a first-round bye, the Greek sensation has gone on to win both of his matches in straight sets.
Tsitsipas squared off against Maxime Cressy in the round of 16. The American tennis pro gave Tsitsipas a good run for his money but couldn’t take the match beyond the second set. Tsitsipas managed to finish the match after winning two evenly-contested sets 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (14-12). In the quarter-finals, the 2022 Mallorca Open champion locked horns with home favorite Mikael Ymer. After winning a tight first set, Tsitsipas made light work of his opponent in the second set to win the match 7-5, 6-3.
Emil Ruusuvuori
The youngster from Finland has been on fire at the Stockholm Open so far. He has stormed into the semis with some exhilarating performances, blowing away his opponent without breaking too much sweat.
He began his campaign with a comprehensive 6-3, 6-2 win against the experienced Joao Sousa. In the round of 16, Ruusuvuori defeated Jiri Lehecka with ease in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. The quarter-final clash against Frances Tiafoe was expected to be a tough hurdle to overcome for Ruusuvuori. However, the 23-year-old produced one of his best performances to outplay the 2022 US Open semi-finalist in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have not faced each other before.
Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win in straight sets.
