Storm Sanders Career
Storm Sanders is an active tennis player on the WTA Tour, with a professional career spanning close to a decade. She is a specialist doubles player but does play singles at the ITF level. Sanders has won one Grand Slam – the mixed doubles title at the 2022 US Open, besides reaching Grand Slam semi-finals on three different occasions. The Australian star has won six WTA doubles titles in her professional career till date. The 28-year-old is a regular on the WTA tour and is one of the most experienced doubles players in the women’s circuit.
Sanders made her professional debut back in 2013. However, it wasn’t until 2017 that she managed to make a mark in the WTA circuit. Sanders won the maiden WTA title of her career in 2017 at the Nottingham Open, partnering Monique Adamczak.
She made two more WTA finals in the same year but finished runners-up on both occasions. She took a two-year break (2018-2019) following a successful season due to injury and poor performances. She made a strong comeback on the WTA tour in 2020 and won her second WTA doubles title at the Thailand Open.
She got her major breakthrough in 2022, winning her third WTA doubles title at the Adelaide International, partnering Ashleigh Barty. She then went on to taste her career’s maiden Grand Slam victory – the US Open mixed doubles title partnering John Peers.
Sanders achieved his career-best WTA doubles ranking of World No.8 in 2022. She is currently ranked No.11, having dropped three places after an average start to the 2023 season.
