Stuttgart Open 2022: Iga Swiatek vs Emma Raducanu Quarter-final – Preview, Predictions, Head to head and Stats

Published by

Top seed Iga Swiatek will face the eighth seed Emma Raducanu in the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open 2022

Iga Swiatek has come into the Stuttgart Open on the back of three consecutive tournament wins – Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, and the Miami Open. The Polish star is in red hot form and is the current World No.1. Swiatek decimated her first-round opponent Eva Lys 6-1, 6-1 to set up a clash against Raducanu. The top seed certainly looks like the player to beat in this tournament.

Emma Raducanu meanwhile, has lacked consistency throughout the year. The British teenager got her first win on clay surface last week in the Billie Jean King Cup and would be looking to draw confidence from that win. Raducanu defeated Storm Sanders 6-1, 6-2 in her first round before securing a close three-set win against local favorite Tamara Korpatsch in the previous round.

Swiatek and Raducanu have never played each other before on the WTA tour. This is their first meeting and Swiatek is the outright favorite considering her much superior ranking and current form. We are predicting a straight-set win for Iga Swiatek.

Can Iga Swiatek win in Stuttgart and make it 4 out of 4?

Iga Swiatek has had a dream 2022 so far. The Polish star became the World No.1 in women’s singles after winning both the events of the Sunshine Double – the Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open 2022. Before that, she won the Qatar Open in Doha.

The 20-year-old has become the youngest woman to win the Indian Wells and the Miami Open in the same season. Having won in Doha in February, Swiatek became the first player ever to sweep the first three WTA 1000 events in a season.

If Swiatek wins the Stuttgart Open, it would be her fourth consecutive title on the WTA tour this year and it certainly is a realistic chance. She looks in unbelievable touch and barring any major upset Swiatek could very will clinch the title in Germany.
