We should be in for an intriguing semi-final clash when Barbora Krejcikova and Belinda Bencic collide on Saturday in the Tallin Open.
The 2021 French Open champion has been in fine form in the Tallin Open and has stormed into the semifinal on the back of some dominant performances so far. Krejcikova has not dropped a set as yet and is looking like a frontrunner to go the distance.
The 26-year-old began her campaign with a solid performance against Ajla Tomljanovic. Krejcikova blew away the Aussie star in the first set before having to dig deep to win the second set. In the round of 16, Marta Kostyuk fought valiantly against Krejcikova in the first set but didn’t manage to get the win. In the second set, Krejcikova was just too good and she won the match 7-5, 6-3. An in-form Beatriz Haddad Maia couldn’t do justice to her talent in the quarterfinals as Krejcikova came out victorious 6-3, 6-4.
The world No. 14 has dominated two of her three matches so far in the competition. Bencic has reached her fourth semifinal in 2022.
The 25-year-old began her campaign with a one-sided victory against Estonia’s Elena Malygina. Bencic was taken to the limit by Katie Boulter in the round of 16. The former world No. 4 eventually won the match 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3. In the quarter-finals, Bencic made light work of Donna Vekic as the former won the match 6-4, 6-1.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 2-0 in favor of Belinda Bencic. The Swiss tennis pro picked up wins at the round of 16 of the Tokyo Olympics and the group stage of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals last year.
Prediction: Barbora Krejcikova to win in three sets.
