6th seed Filip Krajinovic locks horns with Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in the quarterfinals of the Tata Maharashtra Open on Thursday.
The 30-year-old has been made to work hard in both matches at the Maharashtra Open. However, he has managed to show enough grit and determination necessary to keep her campaign afloat.
In the round of 32, Krajinovic faced India’s Sumit Nagal and won the match in three sets. He went on to face Michael Mmoh of the USA in the round of 16. Mmoh managed to win the first set convincingly. However, Krajinovic managed to bounce back remarkably and won the encounter 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. In the two matches so far, Krajinovic has managed to fire in 17 aces. He will look to be a bit more consistent as the tournament is reaching the business end.
The 26-year-old has been in sublime form in the Maharashtra Open so far. He won both his matches in the competition in straight sets.
Bonzi began the new season against Tseng Chun-hsin in the round of 32. It was a one-sided affair as Bonzi won the match 6-0, 6-3. In the round of 16, Bonzi faced third seed Emil Ruusuvuori. The first set was won comfortably by Bonzi. He was pushed to the limit in the second set but he managed to hold his nerves and went on to win the match 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).
The two players have not faced each other as yet and therefore, the head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0.
Prediction: Filip Krajinovic to win in three sets.
