Taz Career
Senerchia began wrestling way back in WWE and made his pro wrestling debut on June 3, 1987, in Puerto Rico under The Tazmaniac. After that, he wrestled for IWCCW and held its Light Heavyweight title.
Taz went on to perform for many independent promotions CWA, New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He made his debut for WWF on August 19, 1991, as The Tazmaniac.
Senerchia debuted for the ECW in October 1993 at NWA Bloodfest by forming a tag team with Joe Chetti called The Tazmaniacs and won the Tag-team Championship twice. He became a double champion when he won the Television Championship for just one night.
Taz returned from a neck injury in 1995 at Holiday hell with a new look and style. He was in a black and orange singlet and exhibited a more intense wrestling style.
He won many titles in his tenure in ECW, two-time World Heavyweight Champion, a two-time World Television Champion, three-time World Tag Team Champion, and fourth ECW Triple Crown Champion.
Taz ultimately signed for WWF with a slightly modified ring name “Tazz” at the 2000 Royal Rumble to win over Kurt Angle at the iconic Madison Square Garden.
During the Invasion angle, Tazz became the voice of the WCW/ECW Alliance. However, he left the stable after he stood up to the leader Stone Cole Steve Austin and attacked Paul Heyman leading to Survivor Series, where The Alliance lost to Team WWF.
Tazz joined as a color commentator in February 2001 at SmackDown! After Jerry Lawler quit the show, he was even one of the trainers for the WWE Tough Enough.
He would soon become a full-time broadcaster and co-hosted SmackDown for WWE until ECW was introduced in 2006. He became the color commentator for that show. Tazz wrestled his final match to date in the same year where he defeated Jerry Lawler at ECW One Night Stand.
Tazz left WWE after his contract expired in 2009 and would debut for Total Nonstop Wrestling under the ring name Taz as an on-screen adviser for Samoan Joe.
On October 12, 2019, Taz appeared for All Elite Wrestling as a pre-show commentator during AEW Full Gear. It was announced that Taz had officially signed a multi-year deal with AEW. From August 2021, he has been a permanent member of the commentary team on AEW Rampage.
