Teenage American tennis player Coco Gauff shared her views regarding her upcoming tournaments following an exit from the Australian Open on Thursday.
The 15-year-old was replying to questions posed by journalists during a post-match press conference after her defeat to fellow American Sofia Kenin in the fourth round.
When asked what her plans would be for the next couple of months, Gauff was quick to retort by saying that she was sure to feature in the upcoming Indian Wells Masters tournament which would commence from March 9.
“In terms of the next couple of months, what do you think your schedule looks like, what tournaments are you certain you will be playing?”, the reporter was heard asking. “I have only one tournament left, I am pretty sure, so that one is obviously in Indian Wells, for sure playing Miami and after that not sure,” Gauff replied.
The upcoming tennis ace also asserted that Miami Open, which is also set to begin in March this year was a priority and that anything later would be an uncertainty as of now.
After a rather good start to the tournament overcoming her idol and fellow countrymate Venus Williams in the first round, Gauff suffered a 7-6, 3-6, 0-6 loss to Kenin to crash out of the year’s first Grand Slam event.
Gauff, who has never before played the Indian Wells also went on to say that she has in the past visited Palm Springs on numerous occasions and seemed optimistic about her chances.
The youngster was also asked about her time at Indian Wells and California, to which she replied:
“I had been in account for a couple of times, I have been going to Palm Springs a lot and I also did the 125 last year, right before the big Indian Wells.”
Meanwhile, Gauff and her partner Caty McNally sailed into the fourth round overcoming Japanese duo Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the women’s doubles category.
