Fourth seed Maxime Cressy locks horns with Frenchman Constant Lestienne in the quarter-finals of the Tel Aviv Open on Friday.
The world No. 34 is one of the hot favorites to win the title at the Tel Aviv Open. He got off the mark as far as winning his first ATP singles title is concerned when he defeated Alexander Bublik in the finals of the Hall of Fame Open. After retiring during his first-round match against Marton Fucsovic due to injury at the US Open, Cressy came back with a bang to win his first match at the Tel Aviv Open.
Maxime Cressy outplayed fellow American Sebastian Korda in the round of 16 in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to book his ticket to the quarter-finals. The 25-year-old has won two quarter-finals this year while having lost as many. Cressy hit as many as 14 aces during his match against Kora. He will be hoping to using his serves once again to good effect in the quarter-finals.
The 30-year-old has reached his third successive quarterfinal. He has lost his previous two quarterfinal matches at the Cassis Open Provence and the San Diego Open to Francesco Maestrelli and Dan Evans respectively.
In the round of 32 of the Tel Aviv Open, Lestienne ousted compatriot Adrian Mannarino in straight sets 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. Lestienne followed it up with another win in straight sets against Emil Ruusuvuori 6-4, 6-2.
Maxime Cressy and Constant Lestienne have not faced each other on the ATP tour as yet. Therefore, the head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0.
Prediction: Maxime Cressy to win in three sets.
