British No.1 Dan Evans went into attack mode against Lorenzo Musetti but it didn’t work out for him
Dan Evans was hoping to make it to the finals of the Sardegna Open but he faced a fired up Lorenzo Musetti.
Evans, who was ranked 26 in the world in February 2021, was a set down to Musetti even before he knew it.
The British star lost the first set 6-1, but he came storming back in the second. Evans won the second set 6-1 and set up quite a brilliant finale in the third and final set.
Many would have predicted the British star to get the third and reach the quarter-finals, but things weren’t made to be.
The final set went the distance with the Italian getting the win, 7-6(8). This was a huge win for the Italian as he also saved four huge match points.
Musetti was charged up after the win and also threw his racket after the win.
Musetti might have made the headlines with the win but Evans also caught the eye of many. The British star decided to go into attack mode after losing the first set and he positioned himself very aggressively before Musetti’s serves.
Dan Evans gets a lot of people talking with his positioning
While Evans is a rising star, he still has some aspects of the game to work on. However, he was handed a lot of credit for changing things up, especially with his positioning.
He was way inside the lines and that worked for him as he won the second set.
It wasn’t enough for him to get the win in the end but many tennis fans and even players caught hold of Evans’ tactics.
Some of them loved it while others posted hilarious reactions on the same.
