Australian Open 2023 Prize Money: Everything you should know about how much is at stake

The Australian Open 2023 is set to take place from 16-29 January – here’s everything you should know about the prize money.

The first Grand Slam of the year is scheduled to start in a few days’ time and this gives us the opportunity to take a detailed look at the total prize money, the players will be battling for! This edition of the Australian Open has the highest-ever prize money at stake – 76.5 million Australian dollars. It is also worth noting that the total pot for the Australian summer of tennis, which includes Grand Slam warm-up events like the United Cup, would exceed Australian $100 million for the first time in history.

When it comes to the main draw of the Australian Open, the participants exiting from round one will receive Australian $106,250 while second round participants will be getting Australian $158,850. This figure indicates an increase of up to 3.2 percent from the previous edition. Meanwhile, both the men’s and women’s singles champions will take home equal prize money – Australian $2.975 million. This is a hike of 3.4 percent from the 2022 edition of the Australian Open.

As it happens in every edition, Australian Open 2023 will consist of events for professional players in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. There are singles and doubles events for the junior and wheelchair players as well. The prize money has been increased for all of these individual events.

The winners of the men’s and women’s doubles events will take home A$695,000 while the team winning the Mixed Doubles events will bag a total prize money of A$157,750. Besides the main round players, the prize money has been hiked even for the players getting eliminated from the qualifying rounds in the singles events. The players making it to the first qualifying round will bag A$26,000 while Q2 and Q3 participants will take home A$36,575 and A$55,150 respectively.

The Australian Open is set to begin on January 16 at Melbourne Park.
