Daniil Medvedev progressed to the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2023 following a thrilling win over Christopher Eubanks – does he wear his wedding ring in a chain?
Daniil Medvedev was spotted wearing his wedding ring in a chain around his neck during his Wimbledon quarter-final against Christopher Eubanks. One could say that the ring worked like a lucky charm as Medvedev held his nerves to register a thrilling win in five sets against the young American. Medvedev was down two sets to one but showed immense courage and determination to win the final two sets and progress to the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament.
The ring that Medvedev wore was gifted to him by his wife Daria Medvedeva during their wedding in 2018. Daniil and Daria tied the knot five years back in a low-key private ceremony attended by close friends and relatives. The couple knew each other from their teen days and in fact, Daria first met Daniil when she was just 12 years old. They began dating in 2014 and are now parents to a beautiful daughter, who was born in 2022.
Daniil’s wife Daria is a Russian-based model and interestingly played Tennis during her earlier days. She played throughout her teenage years but couldn’t make it to the professional level because of a serious injury. It forced her to switch careers and she turned to modelling as a result.
It was not just the wedding ring that caught the attention of the fans when it came to Medvedev’s attire. His own logo has been a regular feature in his outfits and equipment in recent days. Medvedev launched his own signature logo in partnership with Lacoste earlier this year. It was first revealed during the Australian Open in January. The logo can be seen on Medvedev’s Lacoste shoes and his Tecnifibre racquet. Medvedev sports the logo on his apparel and equipment at all professional Tennis tournaments on the ATP calendar.
The logo has been designed with the purpose of making it look similar to a gaming controller. The four key parts of the mark feature a “D” on the left and an “M” on the right, with an obvious link to the tennis star’s initials. Below the initials come two lines, which are meant to symbolize the two “i’s” in Daniil. On the top is a circle, representing a tennis ball. Below the controller-shaped design is written “Daniil M.” The design is inspired by the codes of gaming and it appropriately characterizes the personality of Medvedev both on and off the court.
