Fans on Reddit were amazed to see Rafael Nadal not present on the top 10 list of most aces on Clay Court in the Open Era
The 22-time Grand Slam champion is considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest players on clay. He is fondly called by many “The King of Clay” for his stupendous exploits on the surface. Rafael Nadal won his first French Open title back in 2005 and has gone from strength to strength since.
The 36-year-old has won 92 ATP singles titles and 63 of them have come on clay courts. He won 81 consecutive matches on clay at one point in his career and it is the longest single-surface winning streak in the Open Era.
Nadal has broken many records on clay and it is expected with the kind of surreal success he has had on the surface. However, he is not even in the top 10 when it comes to the most aces hit on clay.
Nicolas Almagro tops the list with 2879 aces and he is followed by the big-serving John Isner with 2291 aces. Feliciano Lopez, Ivo Karlovic, and Carlos Moya round up the top 5 with 2069, 2023, and 1775 aces respectively. Numbers six to ten feature the likes of Roger Federer, Ivan Ljubicic, Gustavo Kuerten, Richard Fromberg, Stan Wawrinka, and Marin Cilic.
