Novak Djokovic is one of the fittest and most athletic tennis players of all time – here’s everything you need to know about if he is vegan

Novak Djokovic has taken fitness and athleticism to a different level. It won’t be too wrong to say that he is one of the fittest athletes of all-time. His levels of fitness have always made fans curious about his diet and nutrition routine – so, here’s everything you need to know about it.

Novak Djokovic has admitted that he has turned into a vegan and relies on a completely plant-based diet. He made this change in his diet following health problems and a particular incident which saw him collapse on the court in the middle of a tennis match. Since then, the former World No.1 has completely gone vegan and removed gluten from his diet.

Djokovic was so happy after he switched to a vegan diet that he even opened a vegan restaurant in Monaco, ‘Eqvita’ in 2016. “My diet hasn’t just changed my game, it’s changed my life – my well-being. And if I feel better, that obviously transfers to my professional life. Eating vegan makes me more aware of my body on the court, and more alert. I removed toxins from my body, and with them went all the inflammation and other things that were messing with my energy levels”, Djokovic had himself revealed how going vegan completely changed him for the better.

Novak Djokovic is set to kick-start his new campaign with the Adelaide International

He will finally be back in Australia and kickstart his 2023 season with the Adelaide International in January. The Adelaide International is an ATP 250 event and it is scheduled to begin on January 1. Djokovic’s participation has been officially confirmed by Tennis Australia and Australian Open boss Craig Tiley.

The Serbian star is set to be in action downunder after a gap of more than one year. Last year, he was barred from participating at the Australian Open due to his COVID-19 vaccination status. While he initially received an exemption from Australia’s strict vaccination requirement to enter the country, after a lot of back and forth between Djokovic and the Australian legal system, he was eventually deported from Australia. Djokovic’s unceremonious departure had given rise to a huge controversy which didn’t seem to end but all of that should be put to an end now that Djokovic is preparing to win another title in Australia.
