Here’s everything you need to know about the tattoos of Wimbledon Champion Marketa Vondrousova
Marketa Vondrousova stands out as the most adorned winner of the prestigious grass-court Grand Slam, displaying an impressive collection of tattoos on her body. She openly admits to losing count of their exact number. Among her tattoo collection, inspirational quotes like “Search and you will find” can be found.
Additionally, on her right forearm, there’s a reminder to take life “one day at a time” accompanied by two dice, possibly symbolizing her ability to embrace uncertainty with a touch of luck. Furthermore, the back of her left forearm features a comforting message “it’s ok” along with a serene sleeping angel, offering solace during challenging moments.
On Vondrousova’s left arm, you’ll find several more tattoos, including the phrases “Let them be them, let us be us” and “golden,” both accompanied by a sitting fairy. Additionally, there’s a letter “F” and a skeleton’s hand clutching four aces in poker, adding to her intriguing ink collection.
Her right arm showcases a diverse array of designs, ranging from a barbed wire heart to delicate butterflies and pinky promise hand gestures. Notably, two hearts pierced by a safety pin convey a powerful message. On the back of her right arm, a sword tattoo is featured, along with the slogan “no rain, no flowers,” symbolizing her belief in the importance of perseverance and dedication on the journey to achievement.
Marketa Vondrousova is set to get a strawberry tattoo to celebrate her Wimbledon victory
Marketa Vondrousova achieved a significant milestone by entering the women’s top 10 rankings on Monday. To commemorate her victory and first Grand Slam title, which she secured with an impressive straight-sets win against Ons Jabeur in the final on Saturday, she has exciting plans.
Marketa intends to celebrate by getting a strawberry tattoo, which will be matching with the one her coach, Jan Hernych, will also get in honor of her achievement. Notably, she made history as the first unseeded player to claim the women’s singles title.
Vondrousova and her coach plan to visit a tattoo parlor in Prague later this week to fulfil their promise. Vondrousova, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, got her first tattoo on her arms when she was 16 years old.
Some of her tattoos hold special meanings, such as her lucky number 13, the Olympic rings, and the quote “No rain, no flowers” above her right elbow, symbolizing the idea that success comes with effort and perseverance. As a nod to the Wimbledon tradition of strawberries and cream, where over 1.92 million strawberries are consumed annually at the tournament, Vondrousova wishes to get a tattoo resembling a strawberry.
