Andy Murray met Iranian-British activist Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and spoke about tennis and social issues. Ratcliffe was detained in Iran from 2016-2020 as part of a long-running dispute between Britain and Iran. Murray and Ratcliffe’s audio conversation will be available for listeners on BBC Sounds.
Murray himself shared his picture along with Ratcliffe on Instagram story. “Was incredibly fortunate to be able to spend some time with the inspirational Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe a few weeks ago. A truly humbling experience to hear first-hand about her experience in Iran, whilst also discussing our mutual love of tennis. Nazanin [Ratcliffe] is guest editor of the @bbctodayprogrammeon BBC Radio 4 and @bbcsounds tomorrow and you can hear some of our conversation from 0800”, the British tennis star wrote. Murray has been a strong supporter of women’s rights issues and other social causes over the years and fans certainly expect an engaging conversation between him and Ratcliffe.
