He had torn all three lateral ligaments in his right ankle after rushing to return a forehand from Rafael Nadal during their semifinal match at the 2022 Roland Garros.
Zverev required surgery and is currently recuperating. He recently gave a positive update on his injury status when he uploaded a video on Instagram of him walking slowly but without the help of a crutch. His right ankle was still heavily strapped but the strong lad sported a smile and gave a thumbs up indicating that his journey towards recovery was on the right track.
The US Open commences on August 29. Therefore, Zverev has a little more than a month to get back to full fitness. With the kind of injury he encountered, it seemed almost impossible for him to compete at the Flushing Meadows. However, we have got the latest update from the horse’s mouth.
