The 35-year-old Andy Murray is enjoying the tennis off-season by watching the Fifa World Cup. He has also been actively tweeting his reactions to certain events pertaining to football’s biggest event.
The legendary tennis ace recently put out a tweet and lauded Lionel Messi as “The Man” after the PSG star played like a man possessed, during Argentina’s win against Australia in the round of 16 of the Fifa World Cup. Messi scored the opening goal in Argentina’s 2-1 win against Australia and also earned the man of the match award for his scintillating performance.
On Sunday, Murray addressed another player as “The Man” and it was Messi’s teammate at PSG, Kylian Mbappe. The 23-year-old scored a couple of goals in France’s 3-1 win against Poland at the Al Thumama Stadium on Sunday in the round of 16. The defending champions will take on England in the quarterfinals in what promises to be a high-voltage affair. After Mbappe’s heroic outing against Poland, Murray wrote:
“Mbappe is also the man. Wow.”
The legendary Andy Murray has wowed us over the years with his brilliance on the tennis court after turning pro in 2005.
Andy Murray was given a wildcard to play a clay-court tournament in Barcelona in 2005, the Open SEAT. However, his first ATP title came in the SAP Open in San Jose in February 2006.
He defeated Lleyton Hewitt in the final to win the title. With the help of this win, Murray became the British No. 1 later that month.
