The 34-year-old Murray, recently notched up his 700th career win in the first round of the Indian Wells when he beat Taro Daniel 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.

As for Daniil Medvedev, he suffered heartbreak when he lost in the Round of 32 of the Indian Wells against World number 24, Gael Monfils. By this loss, the Russian lost his hard-earned no. 1 rank. The Australian Open 2022 finalist will be looking to regain the top spot and a semi-final berth will be enough for it to happen.

He will, however, have to go past the veteran Murray, who received a wild card for the Miami Masters. Daniil Medvedev is the top seed in the tournament and he would be going into the match as the favorite. The winner of the match will take on either Pedro Martinez or Cristian Garin in the Round of 32. Fans are excited to see Medvedev and Murray battle it out. Medvedev has a 1-0 lead in head-to-head versus Murray. The 26-year-old beat the former World no. 1 in the Brisbane Open in 2019.

In the finals of the Australian Open, Medvedev lost a two-set lead and allowed Rafael Nadal to claim his 21st Grand Slam. In the semi-finals of the Mexican Open, the two squared off once again and the Spaniard won for the second time in a row, this time in straight sets. The Indian Wells competition wasn’t memorable for Medvedev. As stated earlier, he was ousted in the Round of 32. The Russian hasn’t been able to participate in all tournaments owing to the tension between Russia and Ukraine.

As for Murray, he had a disappointing Australian Open where he lost in the second round to Taro Daniel. In the ATP Rotterdam, he fared better reaching the Round of 16 before being knocked out by Felix Auger Aliassime. In the Qatar Open, Murray once again lost in the Round of 16 to Roberto Bautista Agut. Another Round of 16 exits awaited the three-time Grand Slam winner at the Dubai Open. His last tournament, Indian Wells Masters saw him lose in the Round of 64 against Alexander Bublik.
