Tennis fans were left fuming after 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios and 4-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka invested in the Miami Pickleball Club.
The new sport, Pickleball is slowly picking up pace and it has also received a lot of backlash from tennis fans. Many tennis fans have claimed that local tennis courts in their vicinity are being modified into Pickleball courts. This has irked them and they have often expressed their frustration on social media. The game has also been given preference in terms of telecasting at the expense of tennis. Now the tennis fans’ wrath knows no bounds as the two tennis stars, Nick Kyrgios and Naomi Osaka are all set to invest in the Miami Pickleball Club. It is a team from Miami that also has investment from former top 10 player, Mardy Fish.
Last month, massive news surfaced regarding the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) and Major League Pickleball (MLP). The two organizations agreed to merge the PPA’s VIBE Pickleball with MLP.
American veteran John Isner has invested in the team from Dallas while the likes of Tracy Austin, Chris Evert, Lindsay Davenport, and Gigi Fernández have invested in a team from Chicago.
In a poster shared by both Kyrgios and Osaka on Instagram, the two players can be seen standing with contrasting expressions on their faces with Miami Pickleball Club written in bold.
