Shuai made sexual assault allegations on the former Vice President of the country and she was reported missing three weeks after making these allegations.

What did the chairman of ATP have to say on this?
After a while ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) which governs men’s international tennis also backed WTA. The chairman of ATP, Andrea Gaudenzi issued a statement which read (h/t English Lokmat):
“The situation involving Peng Shuai continues to raise concerns within and beyond our sport. The response to those concerns has so far fallen short. We again urge for open direct communication between the player and the WTA in order to establish a clearer picture of her situation.”
The chairman has urged to establish direct communication between Shuai and WTA in order to confirm her safety. The tennis world has also expressed its doubts on the situation multiple times now. It is sad to see that the country of China has not been able to confirm the safety of it’s arguably the biggest female tennis star.
