Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis will face top seeds Skupski and Koolhof in their opening match at ATP Finals 2022
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis’ form coming into the match
The Australian duo of Nick Kyrgios and Kokkinakis will face the tough challenge of taking on top seeds in their very first encounter at the ATP Finals 2022. Kyrgios and Kokkinakis are seeded eighth in the tournament and will hope to pull off a major upset against the British-Dutch pair. Besides Skupski/Koolhof, the Australian duo is placed in the Green group alongside Dodig/Krajicek and Mektic/Pavic.
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis were last seen in action as a doubles pairing at the Japan Open in October. They reached the semi-finals but had to give a walkover to their opponents because of injury. The biggest highlight of their year came at the Australian Open, where they had an epic Grand Slam title-winning campaign on home turf.
Skupski and Koolhof’s form coming into the tournament
The British-Dutch pairing of Skupski and Koolhof have absolutely dominated the doubles circuit this year on the ATP. The pair is seeded No.1 in this tournament and look like favourites to clinch the title. They are coming to Turin after a title-winning campaign at the Paris Masters last week.
Skupski and Koolhof’s stellar performances this year have seen them win the Wimbledon title and reach the finals of the US Open. They completed an ATP Masters 1000 hat-trick for 2022 last week, with victory at the Paris Masters. The top seeds are the ones to beat in Turin and will pose a very tough challenge for all other pairs in this season-ending tournament.
