Pablo Carreno and Hubert Hurkacz will lock horns in hope of becoming the champion of the Canadian Open 2022. Both men have played some fantastic tennis throughout the campaign and more of the same is expected in the final.
The experienced Spaniard will be looking forward to bagging his 7th ATP Tour singles title. He has been quite scintillating throughout the tournament and won all his matches in straight sets except the one against Dan Evans in the semi-final. Before that match, the 31-year-old had defeated the likes of Matteo Berrettini, Holger Rune, and Jannik Sinner in the first three rounds.
Carreno Busta has won 26 out of the 43 matches he has played this season so far. This isn’t his first final appearance in 2022. He managed to reach the finals of the Barcelona Open before losing to Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.
The Polish tennis pro has tasted success this season. He won the Halle Open after defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the final. In 2022, Hurkacz has played 45 matches this season and won 32 of them.
Hubert Hurkacz has notched up wins against Emil Ruusuvuori, Albert Ramos-Vinolas, Nick Kyrgios, and Casper Ruud en route to reaching the final. It is interesting to note that all his matches have been decided in the third set and in three out of the four matches, he lost the first set.
The head-to-head stands at 1-1. The Spaniard won the first encounter at the 2021 Cincinnati Masters while Hurkacz got his revenge in the 2021 Moselle Open final.
Hubert Hurkacz is likely to win the match in another three-set affair.
Prediction: Hubert Hurkacz
