Carlos Alcaraz missed the Queen’s Club Championship last week due to an elbow injury
Carlos Alcaraz showed some of his training together with his staff in a video posted on his Twitter account, especially with the ball. An elbow discomfort forced him to withdraw from the Queen’s ATP 500 entry list. The Spaniard continues to carry out his preparation work on the grass, a surface that remains unknown to him, especially this season.
Alcaraz is presently ranked World No.7 on the ATP tour. The Spanish teenager has had a stellar 2022 so far. Earlier this year, he won his first ATP 500 title – the Rio Open, and then went on to clinch his first master’s title – the Miami Open. Alcaraz is in sublime touch this season and in the absence of top players like Alexander Zverev and Roger Federer, he certainly is one of the early favorites to clinch the crown at Wimbledon.
After the great results on concrete and clay, the Murcia native will try to get some success on the grass as well. Alcaraz was the protagonist of a great first part of the season, showing he is the next big thing in tennis.
Carlos Alcaraz is confident of winning the title at Wimbledon
Alcaraz believes that he can certainly win the prestigious Wimbledon crown. In a recent interview, when asked about the likelihood of him winning the title, he said, “Of course, I see it as possible. In the end, it’s the dream I’m looking for. It’s what I work for every day.”
He added that he wishes to emulate Rafael Nadal’s success and play in “historic matches” just like him at Wimbledon.
“Everyone remembers the 2008 final between Nadal and Federer, considered one of the best matches in history and it was spectacular.“Rafa has won historic matches several times… at Wimbledon, and I say to myself: ‘I wish I could be there playing this type of match”, the teenager said.
