The records broken by Carlos Alcaraz at the Miami Open

The tennis career of Carlos Alcaraz is on a stupendous upward curve of late. The young man has broken several records in his journey till now. He has been exemplary and his Miami Open triumph only validates the same.

The 18-year-old Alcaraz won his first Miami Open championship when he defeated current world no. 7, Casper Ruud, in the finals at the Hard Rock Stadium. Alcaraz won in straight sets 7-5, 6-4. The Spaniard had scored a point against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Round of 16 encounters where he played a tweener lob to perfection that had the tennis world in awe of him.

Alcaraz went past Miomir Kecmanovic in the Quarter-final and defending champion Hubert Hurkacz in the semi-final to set up his clash against Ruud in the finals. By his Miami Open triumph, he became the youngest Miami Open champion and first-ever Spanish champion in Miami. He also became the 3rd youngest first-time Masters 1000 champion and maintained his 100% record in ATP Finals.

Carlos Alcaraz has been showing signs of improvement in every match. He came close to winning his first Masters 1000 at the Indian Wells tournament earlier this year but fell agonizingly short.

Seeded for the first time at a Grand Slam, Alcaraz lost in the third round at the 2022 Australian Open to Matteo Berrettini. He entered the Rio Open as the seventh seed and defeated Diego Schwartzman in the finals to win his first ATP 500 title.

He broke into the top 20 by the win. At the Indian Wells Open, he reached his first Masters 1000 semi-final by defeating defending Champion Cameron Norrie in the quarter-finals. In the semi-final, he fought valiantly but lost to the veteran Rafael Nadal in a three-set affair.

Alcaraz has now climbed five places to the 11th spot, just behind Cameron Norrie.
