How has the year 2022 been going for Carlos Alcaraz?
The 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz has been in red hot form in 2022. He missed the Queen’s Club Championships due to an elbow injury but prior to that, he was on a roll.
Alcaraz has won four titles in 2022 as of now. Out of the four titles, he has won two Masters 1000s. He lost in the third round of the Australian Open in five sets to Matteo Berrettini.
He became the first teenager to beat Rafael Nadal on clay when he won the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open against the veteran. The youngster did not stop there as he defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. This made him the first person to defeat Nadal and Djokovic back-to-back on clay. He carried his fine form into the finals to defeat the defending champion Alexander Zverev.
Zverev got one over Alcaraz during the French Open quarterfinal. Now, Alcaraz’s focus is on the Wimbledon. While he is still an unknown commodity on the grass court, his coach has stated that he likes playing in the greenery. Fans will be keeping a close eye on how he performs at the most prestigious tournament in tennis.
