Medvedev seemed to have been booed by the crowd who were supporting Kyrgios and was not at all happy about it. Post match he went on to speak with Eurosport and was asked whether he was angry because of the crowd. Expressing his frustration over what happened, Medvedev said:

”It’s not anger, it’s a little bit disappointing. I suppose it’s normal especially when you play a home favourite and not just the home favourite but Nick. But it’s like you know on my serve, many games were actually quite easy for me with a lot of aces. Few moments were tough where he managed to make good returns. I had a break point, second serve, and people are cheering like I’ve already made a double fault. And that’s just disappointing because it’s not everybody who is doing it, but those who are doing it probably have a low IQ.”
