Fabien Reboul is an active tennis player on the ATP doubles circuit, partnering up with Sadio Doumbia – does he belong to the LGBTQ community?
Fabien Reboul’s latest upload on Instagram has led to widespread speculations among tennis fans. In the picture, Reboul can be seen sharing a kiss with fellow French player Max Broville. The picture has raised the question if we finally have LGBTQ+ representation in the ATP circuit.
Despite sharing the picture on social media, neither Reboul nor Broville have confirmed their relationship. However, Reboul did share a sweet message along with the picture: “I did not fall in love with you, your love pushed me to it.” Reboul is an active doubles player on the ATP tour and is currently ranked No. 54 in the doubles rankings while Broville plays on the ITF tour and is currently ranked No. 945 in the ATP singles rankings.
If both players confirm their relationship, they would be the first gay couple on the ATP tour.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on Twitter after Reboul shared the picture on social media.
“Definitely not against LGBTQ but why would there be a need for representation and when has there been discrimination in tennis? Just let the sport be no need to mix”, wrote a fan.
“How about you go tell all the str8 tennis players to stop sharing pics of themselves with spouses and then come back and complain about teh gayz? You know, why can’t str8 people stop wearing wedding rings and just focus on the sport?”, a fan replied to the above tweet.
“after the buzz around Mbappé/Giroud’s photo yesterday, I think it’s a “joke”. but I could be wrong”, read a tweet.
“thanks for posting. and regarding the homophobia in these replies: yikes. Hope you don’t pay attention to the bots and trolls”, tweeted another fan.
Another fan wrote: “..How does a player being potentially gay represent a big step in tennis..The sport has been played for decades without any consideration for anyone’s sexuality.”
