Emma Raducanu seems to be finding some consistent form ahead of her US Open title defense later this month. She has dominatingly outclassed her opponents in her first two matches at the Cincinnati Masters.
The immensely talented youngster has had her struggles with inclement form ever since she shocked the world and won the US Open in 2021 without dropping a set. Raducanu has not progressed beyond the quarter-final stage at any competition since last year’s US Open triumph.
At the recently-concluded Canadian Open, the Bromley-based Raducanu faced defeat in the round of 64 against Camila Giorgi in straight sets. At the Cincinnati Masters, Raducanu locked horns with Serena Williams in the round of 64. This was being termed by the fans as a generational clash.
Both women came into the tournament on the back of some indifferent form but Raducanu got the better of the veteran with a comprehensive performance. The 19-year-old won the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
Raducanu progressed to the round of 32 and faced former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka. The 33-year-old was outclassed by Raducanu in straight sets. The youngster won 6-0, 6-2. Is Emma Raducanu finding form ahead of the US Open which begins on August 29? Her fans will hope so.
