Emma Raducanu was conferred with MBE by King Charles III for her phenomenal contribution to women’s tennis in the United Kingdom
Emma Raducanu was expected to become a stalwart in the women’s game after her achievement in Flushing Meadows last year. However, her form has dipped considerably following the US Open triumph and success has eluded her since then. Injuries also played a part as she currently sits at No. 75 in the rankings.
The Bromley-based talent will be looking forward to 2023 as she hopes for a resurgence. She received a huge confidence booster on Tuesday as she was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
Raducanu accepted the honor from King Charles III during the ceremony at Windsor Castle. She went on to post a picture from the ceremony on her Twitter account and wrote the following caption:
“a great honour receiving an MBE from his majesty the King today.”
The current British No. 1 had her first full year on the tour and it was marred with injuries and inconsistencies.
Raducanu played only 36 matches this season. She managed to win only 17 of them while having lost 19 with a win percentage of 47.22. The talented youngster failed to add a title to her trophy cabinet, this season.
Raducanu earned prize money of $696,277 in 2022 after appearing in 18 tournaments. Her best result came at the Korea Open in September, where she reached the semifinals. Raducanu had to retire during the third set of her semi-final clash against Jelena Ostapenko due to a left glute injury.
