Emma Raducanu is set to face Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch in the Round of 16 of the Stuttgart Open
Emma Raducanu has made a great start to the WTA Stuttgart Open. In her opening round match, Raducanu defeated Australia’s Storm Sanders convincingly in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. The British teenager is the 8th seed in the tournament and certainly justified the seeding in her first match. Raducanu would however have to be wary about Korpatsch in the next round. The German lost to Sanders in the qualifiers of the tournament, the same opponent Raducanu defeated in her last match. However, Korpatsch is the local favourite and will have the overwhelming support of the crowd in Stuttgart.
Tamara Korpatsch has shown promise in her recent tournaments and even made it to the final of her last event – the WTA 125K Marbella. The 26-year old would look to carry forward the positive momentum and put up a show on her home turf. Korpatsch defeated Italy’s Camila Giorgi 3-6, 7-6, 6-1 to set up a clash against Raducanu.
Raducanu and Korpatsch have never played each other before on the WTA circuit. This will be their first-ever meeting and Raducanu definitely goes into the match as the outright favourite. Korpatsch has a world ranking of 118 while the British teenager is World No. 12. Although, Korpatsch will have the advantage of playing on home turf and having home support, we feel Raducanu’s quality will be too good for her in this match. We are predicting a win in straight sets for Emma Raducanu.
