Eugenie Bouchard is gearing up to play at the WTA 250 Chennai Open which will be held from September 12-18 and feature some of the best players in modern-day tennis.

Former World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard will be seen in action in India as she has been given a wildcard to play at Chennai Open 2022. India’s top-ranked women’s tennis player Ankita Raina has also received a wildcard from the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association.

Bouchard was sidelined for the better part of 2021 after undergoing shoulder surgery. She reached the final of the Abierto Zapopan Cup in Mexico last year.

The 2014 Wimbledon finalist was excited to take part in the upcoming Chennai Open as she shared a tweet from Sportstar regarding her participation in the tournament. The picture used in the tweet posted by Sportstar was from her triumphant junior Wimbledon 2012 campaign.

“So excited! But why’d they use my pic from junior wimbledon 2012” – Bouchard wrote in her tweet.

The Canadian tennis pro is currently playing in the US Open qualifiers. She won her first match against Yuki Naito comprehensively. She will take on Linda Noskova in the next round of qualifiers.

Is Eugenie Bouchard the top seed at the Chennai Open?

Chennai Open will take place at the SDAT Stadium in Chennai and fans will be able to attend the matches to watch their favorite players.

Caroline Garcia enters the tournament as the top seed. The 28-year-old recently won the Cincinnati Masters after defeating Petra Kvitova in straight sets in the final.

Former World No. 18 Alison Riske-Amritraj has been given the second seed. She is married to Stephen Amritraj, who is the nephew of Vijay Amritraj and son of Anand Amritraj.
