Nick Kyrgios‘ withdrawal from the Australian Open comes as a shock to everyone in the Tennis fraternity. Kyrgios confirmed his withdrawal during a conference on Day 1 at Melbourne Park and revealed that a routine MRI scan has indicated a small tear and a cyst in his lateral meniscus.

Barbara was not attending Kyrgios’ press conference and was actually in her bathroom at home when she came to know about the Australian’s decision. In the reporter’s own words: “I was actually in the bathroom and next to me was Pam Shriver. And she starts yelling out, ‘Babsi, Babsi’. I’m like, What? I thought she needed some toilet paper or something. ‘No’, she said. Nick Kyrgios has pulled out. And that’s how I found out.” Schett is a former Austrian professional Tennis player, who currently works as a commentator and presenter for Eurosport.
