Wimbledon’s strict dress code is no latest news for the fans – in the wake of this they have applauded Adidas’ ‘bold bra’ outfit

Funky colors that are seen in other Grand Slams are a strict no-no in Wimbledon. However, fans have praised world No.5 Maria Sakkari for the unique all-white attire she has been sporting during her matches at the ongoing Wimbledon competition. The two-piece gear from Adidas has been carried quite nicely by the Greek.

Kristina Mladenovic is another player who sported the bold outfit during the tournament. She lost in straight sets to Angelique Kerber in the first round.

The 26-year-old Sakkari was looking in fine form in the SW19 until her third-round match against Tatjana Maria. She did not drop a set in the first couple of matches.

In the first round, she defeated Zoe Hives convincingly 6-1, 6-4. Viktoriya Tomova gave a stiffer challenge to the Greek in round two. Sakkari eventually won 6-4, 6-3. In the third round, Sakkari was stunned by the 34-year-old Tatjana Maria 3-6, 5-7 in a lopsided affair.

Tatjana Maria will face the 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the Round of 16. The latter reached the finals of the recently-concluded Eastbourne International tournament. She lost to Petra Kvitova in straight sets. She won the tournament last year.

Ostapenko defeated Oceane Dodin in the first round. She followed it up with another win against Yanina Wickmayer in round two. The 25-year-old booked her ticket to the fourth round after a win against Irina-Camelia Begu in the third round. It is important to note that Ostapenko lost the first set but came back strongly to win the match 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Reactions to the ‘bold bra’ outfit from Adidas

Fans have praised the new attire sported by Maria Sakkari and Kristina Mladenovic at Wimbledon 2022. However, both players have been eliminated now so we will not see the trending outfit again as far as this year’s tournament is concerned.

Tennis Podcast tweeted: “I have to shout out her futuristic 1950s outfit. “She looks like someone from a utopian planet the Enterprise would visit only to discover their idyllic society is underpinned by repressive codes of justice. (A compliment).”

One fan replied: “This has got to be one of the best Wimby outfits I’ve ever seen, and one of the best recent outfits full stop.

One added: “Best Wimbledon outfit award goes to Maria Sakkari.”
