Diego Schwartzman crashed out of the ongoing Cincinnati Masters following a loss in straight sets against fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Stefanos Tsitsipas broke Schwartzman’s serve on five occasions during the match. The Argentine was outclassed by a dominant Tsitsipas who won the match 6-3, 6-3 to progress to the quarter-finals.
Schwartzman lost his cool during several moments in the match. He told the umpire Renault Lichtenstein: “Tell me one people who like his father.”
The 30-year-old tennis pro was not happy with Tsitsipas’ team and his father Apostolos Tsitsipas in particular as he felt they were speaking in English and not Greek when he went towards their end in order to distract him.
Fans have blasted Diego Schwartzman on Twitter for him targeting Stefanos Tsitsipas’ father after the loss.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on John Isner in the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open. The Greek tennis pro has been in fine form in the tournament thus far. He started his campaign with a convincing win against Filip Krajinovic and carried the momentum into his match against Schwartzman. The 24-year-old has already won two titles this year at Monte-Carlo and Mallorca. He would be hopeful of carrying the momentum and going on to win his third title in 2022.
