The 41-year-old played his last singles match on tour at the 2021 Wimbledon against Hubert Hurkacz. The Swiss legend lost to the Polish youngster in straight sets. Federer subsequently underwent knee surgery after getting injured during the grass-court season. Fans waited with bated breath for his return and the veteran was also preparing for the same. However, he shocked the world when he announced that he would be hanging his boots up after playing the Laver Cup.
Federer is one of the most successful players in the history of Wimbledon. He has won the title 8 times during his illustrious career and made Wimbledon his second home.
