Jessica Pegula missed out on back-to-back WTA finals as she lost to Barbora Krejcikova in the semis of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
The American tennis pro – Jessica Pegula has had an impressive start to the season. She was a part of the USA team that won the inaugural United Cup. She registered a thumping win against world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in that competition. In the Australian Open, she made it to the quarterfinals for the third consecutive year.
Pegula reached the finals of the Qatar Open where she was defeated by Swiatek. The world No. 3 went on to compete in the Dubai Tennis Championships and she made it to the semis with wins against Viktoriya Tomova and Ana Bogdan. In the semis, the world No. 3 lost to Barbora Krejcikova 1-6, 7-5, 0-6. With this win, Krejcikova made it to her second WTA 1000 final.
Pegula, who turned 29 on the day of the semis, posted a picture of herself on Twitter having Doritos while waiting for her flight back home. The birthday girl wrote in the caption:
Everyone: “What is it like playing on tour? It must be so amazing!”
Me: gets bagled on your birthday, sitting eating Doritos at midnight, waiting to get on a 16 hr flight home. 🤣“

Pegula will look to come back strongly in the upcoming WTA 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami. With the kind of tennis she has played this season, she will certainly be one of the contenders.
