Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are two of the best players among the current generation. They are the ones who will be carrying the torch after legends like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal hang up their boots.
The German tennis pro – Zverev, turned pro in 2013 and has gone on to win 19 titles. He achieved his career-high ATP ranking of world No. 2 on 13 June 2022. The 25-year-old is yet to return to action since he suffered a terrible injury during the French Open semifinal clash with Rafael Nadal. Zverev has won 339 matches so far and lost 150.
He won the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after defeating Karen Khachanov in the final. Zverev became the first German man to win a gold medal in singles and the first to win a medal since Tommy Haas won his silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has carved out his own legacy with impressive performances since turning pro in 2016. The Greek tennis pro has managed to win 9 singles titles and reached a career-high ATP ranking of world No. 3 on 9 August 2021. So far, Tsitsipas has won 237 matches and lost 113. The 24-year-old reached the finals of the French Open in 2021 and has also made it to the Australian Open semi-finals thrice.
Tsitsipas was the champion at the 2019 ATP Finals, becoming the youngest winner of the year-end championships in eighteen years.
The achievements of Tsitsipas and Zverev are quite impressive but something that has not been able to impress fans is their performances in crunch situations.
