Andy Roddick and Chris Evert indulged in banter on Twitter they noticed a false information being circulated about them. 18-time Grand Slam singles champion Chris Evert was referred to as a former coach of 2003 US Champion Andy Roddick on Twitter. Both players brushed it off as fake information and had a good laugh about it, as fans on Twitter also joined in.
The false piece of information first caught the attention of Roddick, who replied on the original tweet: “Not true, but if you want the best hypothetical high school team, then it’s all yours 🙂 Cheers!” After seeing Roddick’s tweet, Evert joined in and tweeted: “Andy!!!! I was your coach!!! (according to this article) anyway…. Boca Prep had the BEST team.” To this tweet, Roddick responded: “I wish you would’ve been my coach. Pretty sure my backhand would’ve been better.” Evert then joked: “Well, thank you, but you would’ve had no serve.”
Let us take a look at some of the responses from fans on Twitter as Evert and Roddick’s conversation carried on.
“But what if he had gotten your hair in that deal? Just wondering”, joked a fan referring to Evert’s tweet that Roddick would have a miserable serve if she were his coach.
“It would still have been cool to see you coach him. Besides, he had a serve even though JC coached him”, wrote another fan.
“LOL! Andy, if we could have a time machine we could have kept Roger interested in soccer or modeling or something and you would have been up there with Andre in Grand Slams even without Chrissie’s help”, read a tweet.
“A better backhand would have helped him beat Roger more than his serve”, tweeted another fan.
Another fan wrote: “You got to love this humility from All-Time Great.”
