Frances Tiafoe is a keen follower of the NBA – the American caught up with his idol LeBron James
The 24-year-old Tiafoe is currently enjoying the tennis off-season after registering some big wins towards the latter half of the year.
The 2022 US Open semifinalist was seen at the NBA match between LA Lakers and Washington Wizards on Monday. He witnessed the action from close quarters as his idol, LeBron James, played phenomenally to guide the Lakers to a 130-119 win.
The tennis star also had a huge fanboy moment when he got a hug from James, who is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
An excited Tiafoe took to Instagram to share the video and his feelings after meeting the 37-year-old veteran. He wrote:
“@kingjames X Big Foe ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿. Nothing but love OG. #striveforgreatness🚀”
LeBron James congratulated Tiafoe after the latter defeated former world No. 1 Rafael Nadal in the round of 16 of the US Open in September. James tweeted:
“CONGRATS Young King!!! You earned it.”
Tiafoe later revealed that he went “crazy” after receiving the congratulatory message from the star basketball player. If that was a dream moment for Tiafoe, Monday turned out to be even more special as he got a hug from his idol.
