7th seed Aryna Sabalenka is set to take on America’s Madison Brengle in the second round of the Roland Garros

Aryna Sabalenka came back from a set down to beat France’s Chloe Paquet 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round in Paris. The Belarusian star has been in decent touch coming into the tournament.

In her previous tournament – the Italian Open, Sabalenka put on a great show to reach the semi-finals but lost to top seed and eventual champion, Iga Swiatek. She didn’t have a great outing at the Madrid Open and exited the event in the very first round after losing to Amanda Anisimova.

However, prior to Madrid, she did reach the finals of the Stuttgart Open in Germany – her best performance so far this year on the WTA tour.

Madison Brengle’s form coming into the tournament

World No.59, Maddison Brengle has been around on the WTA circuit for quite some time now. The American pulled off a comprehensive straight sets 6-1, 6-2 victory over Romania’s Mihaela Buzarnescu in the first round to set up a clash against Sabalenka.

Brengle isn’t in the greatest of touches coming into the tournament. She suffered a Round of 32 exit in Rome, last week. Her best performance so far this year came at the Qatar Open, where she reached the Round of 16 but eventually lost to fifth seed Gabrine Muguruza.

The 32-year-old will face an uphill task against Sabalenka in the second round in Paris.
