Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep has had a difficult year so far. Her problems have not been limited to the court as she has had a tumultuous time in her personal life as well.
ESPN has revealed its predictions for the Grand Slams in 2023. This year we have not seen as many shocking results as in 2021. Last year, the US Open produced a monumental result as British qualifier Emma Raducanu went the distance to lift her first title in just her second Grand Slam.
Daniil Medvedev’s win in the men’s tournament wasn’t as humongous a surprise as Raducanu’s win was but his thumping victory against Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the final became a talking point.
As per ESPN’s predictions, Carlos Alcaraz will win back-to-back major titles and start 2023 with a bang by winning the Australian Open. The talented youngster Coco Gauff is being backed to win the women’s event.
Rafael Nadal will win his 23rd Grand Slam title and 15th at the French Open while Swiatek will once again triumph at the clay-court major.
Novak Djokovic is being backed to win his 22nd Grand Slam title and equal Roger Federer’s tally of 8 Wimbledon titles at the grass-court major. 2022 Wimbledon semi-finalist – Ons Jabeur could finally see the rub of the green going her way as she is the predicted winner of the women’s event at Wimbledon.
After an impressive run at this year’s US Open, Frances Tiafoe is ESPN’s predicted winner for the men’s event at the 2023 US Open. The prediction for the women’s event has surprised quite a few fans as ESPN has picked Simona Halep to win the title.
Fans’ reactions
