Serbian youngster Hamad Medjedovic looks up to Novak Djokovic as his hero and he is in awe of his idol’s work ethic. Medjedovic (19) and Djokovic (35) share a very close relationship off the court as the Serbian superstar has helped to shape Medjedovic’s career like a father figure. 19-year-old Medjedovic is currently ranked World No. 261 in ATP men’s singles and is often seen training together with Djokovic.

“Novak Djokovic is the most disciplined guy I’ve ever met. On and off the court, the guy is doing absolutely everything that he can for his career. Starting with sleeping, eating, anything. His full day is just all about tennis”, the teenager said about his idol. Medjedovic has been talked about as a hot prospect in Serbia since his early teens and he achieved a combined ranking of number 9 in juniors. Djokovic and Novak Tennis Center took him under their wings early in his career and continue to support him financially, mentally and socially.

Djokovic won a record tenth Australian Open title in Melbourne last month. With this win, the Serbian has now equalled Rafael Nadal as the joint-most Grand Slam Champion in the history of Tennis – 22. Djokovic has now bagged 66 ‘Big Titles’ which includes Grand Slam titles, ATP finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and Olympic singles gold medals. The ATP World No.1 is now seven ‘Big Titles’ clear of his biggest rivals – Nadal (59) and Federer (54).

Djokovic is back at the top of the ATP men’s singles rankings thanks to this historic triumph. He has become the third-oldest man in the Open Era to triumph at the Australian Open, trailing only Ken Rosewall and Federer, who both accomplished the feat aged 36. With his victory against Tsitsipas in the championship clash, the Serbian has also won 17 consecutive matches against Top 5 opponents at the tournament.
